By scanning the detector in the direction shown by the arrow 8 corresponding to the movement of the moving body 1 from S1 to S2, photoelectric converting output obtained at each light detecting element 7 is integrated at each row A-N. The abnormality of the shape of the moving body 1 can be detected by comparing the integrated value with the standard value.
