Abstract
PURPOSE: To reduce liquid Na purification time and to enhance operating reliability in liquid Na cooling material regeneration system in a fast breeder reactor by providing an inert gas blowing device and an impurity gas separating device therein.
CONSTITUTION: A liquid Na purifier body 1 is provided at its bottom with a nozzle 35, which is connected through valve 34 to pump 33, a diaphragm type H2 gas separator 32, and vapor trap 31. When impurity H2 in liquid Na is deposited as hydride on mesh 12 in the purifier 1, heater 29 heats this impurity H2 to dissolve it into liquid Na. At the same time, inert gas such as Ar is injected and rises up through liquid Na in the purifier tank 11 in the form of bubbles. Dissolved H2 evaporates because H2 partial pressure is low in the space above the liquid 23 in degassing pot 22. H2 is passed through the vapor trap 31 and removed by the gas separator 32. This operation is repeated to remove impurity H2 in easy way and for a short period of time. Thus, the purifier 1 recovers its function.
