Abstract

PURPOSE: To accomplish a protracted stable operation without accumulating polymer by-products within the contact device through circulation of a part of scouring liquid mainly containing acid salt extracted from the initial stage area of a multistage gas scouring device to the scouring stage after introduced to a storage tank to separate the polymer by-products.
CONSTITUTION: Gas containing acid gas such as H2S and CO2 is introduced into the area A of a multi-stage gas/liquid counter current contact device 1 as shown by 8. After a part thereof is consumed to produce acid salt in the area A, the gas is sent in sequence to areas B and C with higher absorbing capacity of acid gas via a pertition 2 to remove the acid gas by absorption almost completely. In the water cleaning area D, a small amount of alkali component is removed by water, and then, the gas is discharged. On the other hand, after the acid gas is absorbed by an alkali liquid in the area C, the alkali liquid turned to normal salt it sent to the area b via a pertition 2'. In this manner, the identical reaction is repeated. Subsequently, the liquid is sent to the area A and a thick acid salt liquid thus formed is transferred to a storage tank, as shown by 9. After upper layer of polymer by-products is removed as shown by 20, a part of the liquid containing acid salt in the lower layer is distributed to distribution pipes 14, 14' and 14" via a piping 13 and intrduced into the respective reaction areas.
