Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:An adenosine derivative shown by the formula [R is (amino group-containing) lower alkyl, carboxyl, aryl].
EXAMPLE: 6-[(1-methylethyl)thiomethylamino]-9-β-D-lipofluronosylpurin.
USE: A growth retardant of a plant and an inhibitor of enzyme reaction. That is, a promotor of cell division for the culture of plant organization, the growth promotion of gounds, an aging inhibitor of a cutting, and the reaction inhibitor of phosphodiesterase.
PROCESS: For example, one mole of adenosine is reacted with 1W50mol of a mercaptan shown by the formula HS-R [R is (substituted) lower alkyl, aryl, etc] and 5W 70mol of formaldehyde in water preperably at 10W60°C to give the desired compound.
