Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain faultless weld zone easily at excellent controllability and high vibrational frequency, by vibrating the welding torch which penetrates through a shield gas relay box furnished with consumable gas nozzle, in the direction of sheet gauge in a manner capable of stopping temporarily at one end of the vibration width through a base with lifting roller.
CONSTITUTION: As a wire 25 is fed through a welding torch 5 and melted, a gas nozzle 11 is consumed gradually, and the torch 5 is driven upwards by a roller 7 to promote welding. Shielding gas enters a relay box 10 through an mouth piece 16, and passes through the clearance between the nozzle 11 and torch 5 to shield the weld zone. On the other hand, a base 12 is vibrated in the direction of arrow 14, and the torch 5 and nozzle 11 also vibrate similarly in the groove, and heat input is distributed uniformly from the face to back of the groove. In V-groove, if necessary, a screw 23 is fed in to stop the vibration temporarily on the groove surface part, and a proper quantity of weld metal is supplied depending on the sectional area of the groove, so that faultless welding may be performed.
