Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve transfer efficiency by a simple method and reduce partial transfer drop-out by reducing the biasing characteristic of alternating electric fields in the first half of the transfer region and increasing the biasing characteristic of alternating electric fields in the second half.
CONSTITUTION: In the first half part of the transfer region, a grid wire 14 is not provided in the opening part of a shield case 12 and therefore ordinary AC corona discharging of small biasing characteristic is accomplished for the photoreceptor 8 side by a corona wire 13. The potentials of the transfer paper, toner 9 and photoreceptor 8 before they reach the second half of the transfer region are lowered in a transferrable state by this ordinary AC corona discharging. In the second half part, a grid wire 14 is provided in the opening of the shield case 12 and therefore an electric field of large biasing characteristic may be created and this results in the increased performance of a destaticizing charger 20, making it possible to increase the transfer efficiency at the time of transfer in the second half part and eliminate partial transfer drop-out.
