Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable stable separation action of transfer material from a photoreceptor unaffected by difference in quality of the transfer material, variation of environments, etc., by effecting corona discharge for transfer in a current quantity not more than the critical current quantity at which transfer corona charge begins to reach the surface of the photoreceptor through the transfer material.
CONSTITUTION: Toner image 4 is transferred from the surface of photoreceptor 5 to transfer paper 3 with corona discharger 1, and the transferred charge is lowered with corona discharger 2 for separation, and paper 3 is separated by its own rigidity and weight. DC corona discharge is used for transfer, and AC corona discharge is used for separation. In the AC corona discharge, the current is shown by the effective current of the difference between I⊕ and I⊖.
