Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the image discrepancy and the failure in transfer by presetting within a range the values of the resistacne, thickness and saturated charged potential of a conveyor belt with is made operative to electrostatically attract copy paper so that the latter may be separated from a photosensitive element.
CONSTITUTION: A separating belt 5, which is operative to attract copy paper 7 to its surface by the electrostatic charge so that the image developed upon the photosensitive element 2 may be transferred to the paper 7, while separating the paper 7 from the element 2, and to convey the paper 7, is made of plastics which are prepared to have a preset strength with a filler such as glass fibers and carbon. The selection of the plastics is carried out such that their side contacting with the paper has a resistance range from 108 to 1013 ohm cm or such that their thickness is smaller than 150 microns but their resistacne is higher 1013 ohm cm and their saturated charged potential is lower than 2500V. Thus, the surface potential of the belt due to the charges of a transfer electrode during the image transfer and to the subsequent repeated discharged can be prevent from rising. At the same time, the separation of the paper 7 by the attraction can be accomplished so as to effect the satisfactory image transfer
