Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform switching and connection to a spare optical transmission line by providing a device for converting the output from an optical fiber to parallel beams and again condensing the same and entering the same into the optical fiber on the way of the optical fiber main transmission line and providing an optical path changeover device in the optical path thereof. CONSTITUTION:The output from the 1st optical fiber 11 is converted to parallel beams by the lens 13 in front thereof. The parallel beams are next focused by the lens 14 in front of the 2nd optical fiber 12 and the focused beam is entered to the 2nd optical fiber 12. A lens 22 for parallel beam condensing is provided to the front of a spare optical fiber 21. A prism 23 for optical path changeover or the like is provided so as to be able to enter the optical path between the paralelling lens 13 for the 1st optical fiber 11 and the focusing lens 14 for the 2nd optical fiber 12. New, when a fault occurs in the 2nd main optical path, a motor 24 is operated by the detection signal, by which the prism 24 is rotated to send the signal from the corresponding 1st main optical transmission line 11 to the spare optical transmission line 21. In this way, the desired information may be switched and transmitted to the spare optical transmission line.
