Abstract

PURPOSE: To firmly bond Fe and Al by applying three layer plating of Ni-Cu-Ag on the surface of Fe, pressure contacting Al to the surface thereof and melting through heating the Al portion protruding from the Fe portion thereby covering the Fe end part at the time of bonding Fe and Al.
CONSTITUTION: Fe 1 having been plated with three layers of Ni-Cu-Ag on the surface and Al 2 are butted by bending their ends. The end of the Al 2 is protruded several mm from the end of the Fe 1 and the plating surface of the Fe is contacted to the Al 2 and both are pressed. A welding arc is applied in the arrow direction from the end part of the Al 2 to bond the both by way of the plating surface. At the same time, the end of the Al is fused and deformed so as to cover the end of the Fe 1. At the contact surfaces of both metals, Ni-Cu is total solid solution, Cu-Ag and Ag-Al have high degrees of solid solubility as well and Fe and Al bond with large strength.
