Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent closure of nozzle by solidification of molten metal at the time of pouring, by filling the sliding nozzle and rotary nozzle of ladle and tundish with granular refractories, and heating and insulating with thermit heating material.
CONSTITUTION: A sliding nozzle is provided in the bottom of a ladle or tundish. The nozzle forms the upper nozzle part with upper nozzle brick 5 provided in wide bottom taper part 4 of a tuyere 3 of tuyere brick 2 and a securing plate 6. The lower nozzle part slides in contact with the securing plate 6, and is constituted with a sliding plate 7 having an opening in part and a lower nozzle brick 9. The hole in the upper nozzle brick 5 is filled with granular refractories 11, and a heating insulating material 10 coated with a heat insulating material of bulk specific gravity <3 on the both sides and upper face of a plate 21 of thermit heating material of which heating capacity is 2W20MJ/kg is placed on the tuyere 3. This heating insulating material 10 is ignited to generate heat. Using this heat, the opening part of the tuyere brick 2 and the refractory filling 11 are heated to high temperature and insulated. Then, pouring molten metal, closure of the nozzle part by cooling and solidification of the molten metal in the nozzle part may be prevented.
