Abstract

PURPOSE: To manufacture a catalyst carrier which has an enough unti-squeezing strength and whose performance does not fall when a catalyst is produced, by baking at a comparatively low temperature, by kneading powder of titanium oxide with water or/and barium titanate, shaping the mixture, baking the shaped mixture and repeating such a process once more.
CONSTITUTION: Powder of titanium oxide is kneaded with water or/and barium titanate, which serves as a binder. The mixture is then extruded to a desired form. The extruded mixture is baked in a muffle furnace kept at 100W800°C. The baked piece is lightly crushed so that about 50% by weight of the crushed material has a grain size of 325 mesh (43μ) or less. Barium titanium is then added to the crushed powder so that the total amount of barium is 1W15% by dry weight. The latter mixture is shaped to a desired form in the same way as mentioned above and baked at 400W800°C to manufacture the objective catalyst carrier.
