Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain unsintered pellets for iron manufacture with high strength in high productivility by a method wherein an iron containing material in a powder form or the like and a hydraulic binding agent are mixed in a predetermined ratio and, after pelletizing carried out by adding water, obtained pellets are left for aging, treated by steam and heated.
CONSTITUTION: To 100pts.wt. of an iron containing material in a powder or a particulate form, 3W10pts.wt. of a hydraulic binding agent and, according to necessity, a predetermined amount of other additives are added and uniformly mixed and the obtained mixture is kneaded with added water, thereafter molded to a briquet or a pellet. After this raw pelletized or briquetted ore is left for three days at a room temperature, it is subjected to steam treatment within steam at 100°C and, moreover, heated in air at 100W500°C. Thereby, an ageing period is shortened compared to a conventional method and unsintered ore pellets with high strength for iron manufacture are efficiently obtained. Moreover, if above described leaving treatment is carried out at a room temperature or at 60°C in an atmosphere of which relative humidity is 80W100% and steam treatment is carried out in steam at 90W 100°C, an ageing period is still more shortened.
