Abstract

An improved process for preparing active carbon pellet, including (a) grinding active carbon of particle lignified cellulose series into fine powder; (b) in the presence of water, mixing the aforesaid active carbon powder with from 5 wt% to 30 wt% binder material selected from soda soap soil and calcium soap soil; (c) extruding the mixture to produce an extruded product which is cut into pellets in green state characterized by having 50-70 wt% of water; (d) heating the pellets sufficiently to remove their water content; and (e) under inert gas, subjecting the dried pellets to thermal processing under temperature from 370 DEG C to 982 DEG C to calcine the binder material, in which the improved steps includes tumbling the pellets in (c) for 30 minutes in batches or continuously to obtain a final active carbon pellets which have gap component less than 0.19 and dust attribution rate less than 1.2 mg/100cc/min before the pellets are coated.
