Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a pilot burner with a device for detecting insufficiency of oxygen, wherein an oxygen density sensor having a test tube-like shape is included, a sealed tip of the sensor being extended from a burner flame port to be practically surrounded by an inner flame of a pilot flame thereby higher electromotive force due to insufficint oxygen and change of temperature being obtained.
CONSTITUTION: An oxygen density sensor having a test tube-like shape is inserted through a tip tubler portion of a pilot burner tube 1 such that a sealed tip 3 of the sensor may be practically surrounded by an inner flame b of a pilot flame a and a backward opening 5 may be open to the surrounding air. A zirconia element is used at the sealed tip 3. In a case of insufficient condition of oxygen, the inner flame exhibits an extended lifting phenomenon, and ambient air, the oxygen density of which is not yet reduced relatively, proceeds to an outer surface of the zirconia element to cause the electromotive force itself to sharply drop due to the oxygen density difference and to cause the electric resistance to increase due to the exposure to the proceeded air having a low temperature, so that larger change of electric current compared with a normal burning condition can be obtained to operate a gas safety valve correctly.
