Abstract

PURPOSE: A specific solvent is added to a dioxane mixture containing n-propanol and they are distilled to separate and recover the dioxane and the added solvent is almost quantitatively recovered with very simple operations and reused.
CONSTITUTION: A mixture of dioxane mainly containing n-propanol, as water-n- propanol-dioxane or n-propanol-dioxane, is combined with a solvent as benzene or n-hexane and the dioxane is separated by distillation. The difference in boiling point between dioxane and the distilling-off fraction is as large as 25W40°C, the separation is carried out with extreme easiness and there is scarcely the recovery loss of dioxane. Further, the recovered dioxane is pure and used directly as a solvent. The solvent added after the distillation and distilling-off fraction containing water are combined with water to separate into two layers and the solvent is recovered and reused.
