  • Control Of The Air-Fuel Ratio Of Carburetors (AREA)

Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable to supply air-fuel mixture of proper air-fuel ratio at all times by compensating change in air-fuel ratio caused by temperature change, by employing an arrangement in which float level of carburetor is changed with temperature by use of a temperature-sensitive element such as bimetal.
CONSTITUTION: Fuel is supplied to carburetor 1 from inlet 2. As fuel is filled in carburetor 1, float 5 is raised upward together with its float arm 4. When the fuel level reaches a certain height, float valve 3 is closed by the float arm 4. Fuel in carburetor 1 is supplied to engine from main jet 6. Here, float arm 4 is made of bimetal and shaped, for instance, in the form shown in the drawing. With such an arrangement, when temperature is raised, height l1 of arm 4 is increased to l2 as shown in the drawing. Therefore, if density of air supplied to carburetor is lowered along with temperature rise, difficulties that mixture is enriched excessively at a given fuel level of carburetor can be avoided, so that it is enabled to keep a constant air-fuel ratio independently of temperature change.
