Abstract

PURPOSE: To eliminate broken filaments, uneven fineness, and physical preperties of filaments, by quenching the extruded filaments in a horizontal blowing spinning stack at a reduced blowing speed with a gas and the air consequently sucked from the opposite side.
CONSTITUTION: The synthetic fiber filaments Y of one denies or less per filament extruded from the spinneret 1 are quenched in the horizontal blowing spinning stack from the both sides with a gas blown through the cooling chamber 2, the filter 3 and the distribution device 4 at a reduced blowing speed of preferably 5W25cm/sec. and the air consequently sucked through the distribution device 5 and the side S opposite to the air-blowing side B. The quenched filaments Y are then taken off at a speed of 3,000m/min. or higher. The distribution device 5 is e.g. the honeycomb structure comprising a plurality of horizontal plates 8W11 between the two side plates 6 and 7.
