Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable welding without melting of base metal even in the case of thin clad steel, by fitting foils of the same material as cladding material to the upper and lower side of the butt part of clad steel, and performing high frequency resistance welding while holding them with electrodes.
CONSTITUTION: Using carbon steel, low carbon steel, etc. as base metal, and SUS- 316L, SUS304, etc. as cladding material, the clad steel plates are joined butt to butt, and foils made of the same of similar material as the cladding material are fitted to the upper and lower sides of the butt, then they are joined together by high frequency resistance welding while holding them with electrodes. Foils should preferably measure 0.1 to 0.3 mm in thickness and 4 to 6 mm in width when the plate thickness of the clad steel is 0.5 to 5 mm. The current is usually 10500 to 14000 A, and the electrode pressing force to the foils should be, when the foil thickness is supposed to be t mm, preferably within the range of 150+t×56 to 350+t× 100 kg.
