Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the deterioration of decomposition efficiency and catalyst and damage to reactor and water exhaust pipe by designating pH of waste water and oxidized water in the treatment of NH3-containing waste water by a wet oxidation method using a catalyst such as Fe-Ni(compound), etc., at specific temperature and pressure.
CONSTITUTION: An NH3-containing waste water of pH 8W11.5, preferably 9W11, is pressurized through the pipe 2 from the tank 1 by the pump 3 and then heat exchanged in the heat exchanger 5. Then, it is mixed with the O2-containing gas 10 and then introduced into the reacting tower 12 packed with a catalyst, e.g., Fe-Ni-Co(compound), etc., where the temperature of the waste water is kept at 100W370°C and the amount of O2 is also kept at a level 1W1.5 times a theoretical amount necessary for decomposing NH3 or organics(or inorganics) present in waste water.
