Abstract

PURPOSE: To monitor the radiation energy utilized in real time by providing radiation intensity detectors in depth of different phantoms irradiated by radioactive rays outside the maximum utilized ray cone to thereby calculate the ratio of detector outputs.
CONSTITUTION: Radiation cones are collimated via collimate blocks 18a, 18b and 19 in perpendicular directions to thus become radioactive rays of rectangular pattern or the like as used. Radiation intensity detectors 23a, 23b are provided at the different depth positions in the phantom 22 equivalent to human body, water, etc. of a monitor 21 irradiated by radioactive rays outside the cones 20. The detected outputs from the detectors 23a, 23b are applied to a divider 29, which thereupon determines the radiation intensity ratio of the different depths corresponding to the radiation energy. Accordingly, it is not necessary to alter the depths of the detector to enable monitoring of the radiation energy thus utilized in real time.
