Abstract

PURPOSE: To perform the coagulating treatment of nondissolved substances easily without increasing the concentrations of inorganic or organic ions in liquor to be treated by adding with stirring finely powdered cation and anion exhange resins as coagulants into nondissolved substance dispersions.
CONSTITUTION: A washing waste water 3 containing the nondissolved substance S, e.g., iron oxide, etc., for example, is supplied to the coagulating sedimentation tank 2 equipped with the stirrer 1, and then the fine powders (150μm or less in grain size) of the cation exchange resin C and the anion exchange resin A are added to the waste water with stirring 1, whereby both the exchange resins are made to adhere to each other by means of a clamping phenomenon to form coarsened flocs F. During the process, the nondissolved substance is coalesced into the flocs F and then sedimented to the lower part of the tank 2 by stopping the stirring 1 and the clarified treated water 4 is recovered. The sedimented flocs F can be also filtered effectively by a simplified filtering device.
