Abstract

CONSTITUTION: When a group of plane electrode 28, 29, 30 become negative against the facing group plane electrode, the CDEG 5W7, 5'W7', 5"W7" produce corona discharge by receiving high exciting voltage against the NEG 1W4, 1'W4', 1"W4". As a result, negative ions are discharged toward the facing plane electrode. During the period when the plane electrode group 28W30 positive against the facing electrode, the CDEG receive D.C. bias which is negative against the NEG and takes intermediate potential between the electrodes 28W30 and the facing negative electrode group. As a result, the amount of particle charge and critical main field strength are increased.
