Abstract

PURPOSE: A polyarylene ester with a specific inherent viscosity and a polyalkylenephenylene ester are melt blended to produce title composition suitably used for food vessel because of high chemical resistance, moldability, transparency and impact strength.
CONSTITUTION: (A) 5W45 parts by wt of a polyarylene ester and (B) 95W55 parts of polyalkylenephenylene ester and/or polyalkylene phenylene ester-ether are melt blended, wherein the resin of components A and B with inherent viscosities satisfying equations I and II (η A, η B are the inherent viscosities of components A and B respectively, which are measured using lg. polymer/100 cc of solvent mix of phenol (6) and tetrachloroethane (4) at 25°C) are employed to give the objective composition. The component A is preferably prepared from aromatic dicarboxylic acids and bis-phenol A and the component B is preferably polyethylene terephthalate.
