Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the printability of a polypropylene film with a cellophane printing ink, by subjecting the surface of the film to corona discharge in the atmosphere containing oxygen under specific conditions. CONSTITUTION:A molded polypropylene article, e.g. a film, 5mm or less thick, is subjected to corona discharge in the atmosphere of containing 25vol%, preferably 30-98vol%, of oxygen at 50-100 deg.C, preferably 60-90 deg.C, under the conditions of 1-50kV and 3-150kHz. According to the method, the surface contains 10 oxygen atoms or more per 100 carbon atoms. EFFECT:Improved gas permeability, metal deposition, heat adhesion, and compatibility with coating materials.
