Abstract

PURPOSE: To inspect the cage rotor exactly even through a defective insulation is present in the rotor by making plural ring-shaped stators for checking a faulty bar opposite to the rotor to be inspected and by placing a temperature detector for the surface temperature measurement at the intermediate position of said arranged stators.
CONSTITUTION: Two ring-shaped stators 2, 2a are made opposite to the rotor 1 to be inspected at both ends of the rotor shaft and are connected to the multiphase AC supplies 6, 6a respectively, the surface temperature detector 5 is placed between both the stators to detect the surface temperature of the rotor. In this way, although a bad insulation is present between the rotor bar 4 and the core, a cut of the bar and a casting defect can exactly be detected by comparing the surface temperature since an induced current flows in the rotor bar straightly.
