Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the coated product of beautiful appearance and superior adhesiveness free from crazing by electrolytic-plating Pd (alloy) film on metal base then electrolytic-plating Rh/Ru alloy film.
CONSTITUTION: In applying Rh/Ru alloy coating on a metal-made decorative product, a Pd metal film or Pd alloy film such as of Pd/Ni alloy is beforehand formed on the base by an electrolytic-plating method, vacuum deposition method or the like, after which the electrolytic-plating is applied by using the plating bath contained with rhodium sulfate, free sulfuric acid, sulfamic acid, soluble magnesium compound and soluble ruthenium salt. The resultant coated product has an elegant color tone of lustrous white color and has no possibility of forming any crazing despite thick coating of about 1W10μ.
