CONSTITUTION: A peripheral face 12a of a coil 12 constituted by a wire 8 wound on a bobbin 6 is detected by a detecting method 14, and a detected winding pattern f is fed to a control method 15 and compared with a previously set reference pattern B. A comparator 17 obtains a difference g between those above and feeds it to a pulse generator 18. A pulse, in accordance with the difference g, is fed to a pulse motor 11 by the pulse generator 18, to control a rotational speed of feed screw 10 of the traverse method. For a sensor 16 of the detecting method 14 may be used both of the types to optically or electrically inspect circumferential face and to mechanically profile circumferential face, and in this way, the traverse motion can be automatically adjusted, capable of smoothly winding the coil.
