Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a surface having suitable irregularity independently of the difference in thickness of oxide coating on the surface, by heat-treating titanium material in a gas contg. O2, then by surface treating the titanium material with dil. sulfuric acid so as to prevent completely the appearance of portions having acid treatment defects.
CONSTITUTION: A titanium material is heat-treated at a temp 400W650°C, pref. 500W650°C in a gas cont. O2 not less than 1% by vol., e.g., in air. The time for the heat-treatment is not less than 1 min., pref. 15min.W40hrs. The titanium material having been heat-treated is hot treated with dil. sulfuric acid of a concn. 50W 700g/l, at a temp. from 40°C to the boiling point. The titanium material having been treated with dil. sulfuric acid has a texture effective for making functional coating.
