Abstract

PURPOSE:To record through simple control of the diameter of liquid drips and to enable to reproduce and record the tonal image, by causing state change of recording medium liquid through control of the area of recording medium liquid where heat is received from heat producing elements. CONSTITUTION:In response to the level of an input signal, only one of terminals 241-245 is set into operation by means of comparators 221-225 and gate circuits 251-255. Providing that a heat producing element having a smallest area is connected, for instance, to terminal 241 and one having a largest area is connected to terminal 245 in a recording head which comprises a plurality of heat producing elements having different areas, one of these terminals 241-245 is selectively set into operation in response to the level of input signal. In case that digital signals indicating a level is used, comparators can be omitted and driving circuits are driven selectively while serving as gates for receiving corresponding signals.
