Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent leakage of fluid outside the machine in the shaft sealed section by means of a non-breathing intervened plate provided to shut off the packing surface otherwise offering a fluid leakage route outside in the shaft seal method using a packing.
CONSTITUTION: A non-breathing intervened plate made of material immune to the damage depending on the type, temperature and the like of the fluid is interposed between packings 4 and on the contact surface between the packing 4 and a metal lock 5 and the valve body 1 to shield the packing surface positioned in the fluid leakage route. With such an arrangement, even if the packing is breathing, the leakage of the fluid through the packing can be checked and thus, only the end of inner surface of the packing, the contact surface of the shaft 2, the outer surface of the packing and the contact surface of the packing case 3 are left as possible fluid leakage route.
