Abstract

PURPOSE: To measure a liquid level in a tank stably by making a rotatable connection between a seesaw member provided with floats at both its sides and a crossarm varying a slide resistance value in accordance with a liquid level.

CONSTITUTION: In accordance with a liquid level in tank 9 such as the gasoline tank of a car, floats 11a and 11b raise and lower which are provided at both sides of seesaw member 12 connected rotatably to crossarm 2. The raising and lowering of floats turns crossarm 2 and contact spring piece 4 incorporated with crossarm 2 and contact spring piece 4 incorporated with crossarm 2 slides on winding resistance 6 to vary its resistace value according to the liquid level, so that the liquid level will be measured. In this constitution, float 11b provides the measurement of the liquid level at convex part 10, etc., in tank 9 while float 11a contributes to that at the center part with a little influence of the inclination, etc., of tank 9, and this seesaw constitution eleiminates an influence of fluctuations of a liquid surface due to acceleration. Therefore, the stable measurement of the liquid level in the tank can be carried out. In addition, the fitting of a level gauge into a tank with a narrow intake can be simplified by folding member 12 centering on the connection part of arm 2.
