Abstract

A liquid gauge of the type comprising a float (6) having a central opening through which extends a guide rod (4) carrying a substantially co- extensive conductive winding (5), at least one conductive blade (7) carried by the float (6) and slidable upon the winding (5), a tube (1) having a bottom (2) fixed to the lower end of the guide rod (4) and surrounding the float (6), and means (e.g. 10) connecting respectively the conductive blade (7) and one end of the winding with output terminals (e.g. 11), further comprises a movable contact (15) carried by the float (6), a fixed contact (23) mounted on the tube bottom (2) and a warning circuit which closes when the contacts come together. The movable contact is a conductive rod (15) slidable in a bore (16) formed in the float (6) with its axis substantially parallel to that of the guide rod (4), the conductive rod (15) carrying a retainer member (22) at its upper end, and the fixed contact being a conductive surface (23) placed on the bottom (2) of the tube. <IMAGE>
