PURPOSE:To prevent electrostatic breakdown of an MIS-type element by a system wherein a switching element is einserted between an external connecting terminal and an internal circuit having the MIS-type element, and the switching element is turned off when the internal circuit is not in operation. CONSTITUTION:A switching element 6 is inserted between a terminal 3-2 to which an external power source 5-2 is connected and an internal circuit 4. An external power source 5-1 is a power voltage generating circuit to drive an integrated circuit 1. The switching element 6 is not in conduction when the integrated circuit 1 is not in operation, and thus the internal circuit is isolated. Even if static electricity is applied on the terminal 3-2, the gate of an MIS-type element of the internal circuit 4 is protected from electrostatic breakdown accordingly.
