Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce overcooling of a soldering iron and prevent the exhaust of lead fume by connecting the smoke suction hood of the soldering iron to a suction means via strainer by a flexible hose and opening and closing the suction passageway by the operating means at hand.
CONSTITUTION: With a vacuum pump 21 being run normally, a solenoid vave 16 is opened by operating the switch 23 provided to a soldering iron 11 to suck the air containing lead fume, etc. through a smoke suction hood 13 covering the tip 12 of the soldering iron 11. The air having been sucked is led to a strainer 19 through a smoke suction pipe 14, flexible vinyl hose 15, manifold pipe 17 and steel pipe 20 and passes in the turpentine oil 24 of the strainer, whereby the flux is dissolved and removed. Further, it passes through a cotton filter 25, by which lead contents are removed. After it is sucked into the vacuum pump 21, it is exhausted. When suction is not required, the suction passageway is closed by operating the switch 23 to prevent overcooling of the soldering iron and keep good the molten state of the solder.
