Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable degradation of electric insulation resistance to be prevented by beforehand sealing the ends of sheath heaters in producing castings such as pans and baking plates in which the sheath heaters are integrally inserted.
CONSTITUTION: A sheath heater 2 is fixed to a shell lower mold 3 and the end part 9 of the sheath heater 2 is sealed by a plug body 10 of silicone rubber, glass powder, bentonite, etc. When molten metal is poured from a sprue 8, the mold 5 is buried by the molten metal and the shell molds 4, 5 cause thermal decomposition, whereby the sheath heater 2 in the casting is inserted. In this case the end part of the sheath heater 2 is sealed and therefore even if molten metal temperature lowers, suction of thermal decomposition gas into the sheath heater 2 is obviated and the electric insulation resistance of the sheath heater 2 does not degrade.
