Abstract
PURPOSE: To enable the continuous hydrolysis of an alkylene carbonate, by separating a specific crystal line inorganic anion exchanger used as a catalyst easily from the reaction liquid.
CONSTITUTION: An alkylene carbonate is hydrolyzed in the presence of a specific crystal line inorganic anion exchanger of the formula Mx 2+My 3+.(OH)2x-3y-z. Az.nH2O [M2+ is a bivalent cation of Mg2+, Zn2+, Cu2+, Ni2+, etc.; M3+ is a trivalent cation of Al3+, Fe3+, Cr3+, etc.; A is a mono- to tetravalent anion of Cl-, Br-, F-, NO3 -, CO3 2-, So4 2-, PO4 3-, Fe(CN)6 4-, etc.; n is a positive number; x,y, and z are 0≤y/x≤4, 1/4≤z/x+y≤1/2, z is the total equivalent of mono- to tetravalent anions A], well-known as a synthetic hydrotalcite as a catalyst. This catalyst has a superior activity and selectivity, a long life, and a stable effect in continuous operations.
