Abstract

PURPOSE: To place the neutral points within the contact arc between reducing rolls, and to prevent chattering, by properly changing the friction factor, when the rolling work with the unsymmetric reducing rolls falls into unstable rolling condition.
CONSTITUTION: During the unsymmetric rolling work with the upper and lower work rolls, in case of unstable rolling condition being caused when either one of neutral points in upper and lower faces of the material to be rolled comes off the inlet point or the outlet point, the countermeasures are taken as follows. That is, σ is taken for the tension, similarly, Kf for the mean deformation resistance, h for the sheet thickness, the suffixal numerals 0 for the inlet side and 1 for the outlet side; in case of σ10>Kf.lnhO/h1, the friction factor of surface of the work roll 2 of lower speed or of smaller diameter is increased, or inversely, the friction factor of surface of the work roll 3 of higher speed or of larger diameter is decreased. In case of σ10<Kf.lnhO/h1, the friction factor of surface of the work roll 2 of lower speed or smaller diameter is decreased, or inversely, the friction factor of surface of the work roll 3 of higher speed or of larger diameter is increased; by thus controlling the friction factor, the stable operation is made possible.
