Abstract

PURPOSE: To make a PV rolling process having an excellent descaling effect practical with a reduced tension, by making the friction factor on a high speed roll side larger than that on a low speed roll side, when a strip is rolled with difference circumferential roll speeds.
CONSTITUTION: When a material 18 is rolled with upper and lower work rolls 10, 12 rotated at different circumferential speeds, the material 18 just being fed to the rolling rolls 10, 12 is pushed down to bend by a deflector roll, etc.; hereupon, the contact angle θ1 of the upper high speed roll 10 is made larger than the contact angle θ2 of the lower low speed roll 12. The friction factor μ1 between the material 18 and the upper work roll 10 becomes larger than the friction factor μ2 between the material 18 and the lower work roll 12, and the difference between forward tension σf and the back tension σb acting on the material 18 becomes small; hereby, the neutral points P1', P2', wherein the speed of the material 18 coincides with the circumferential speed of the work roll, are respectively shifted to the run-out side and feed-in side end points P1, P2 so that the PV rollig work is smoothly continued.
