Abstract

PURPOSE: To protect catalyst against overheating, by stopping supply of secondary air as soon as rich mixture is supplied into the cylinder.
CONSTITUTION: When opening of main throttle valve 6 becomes 35W45 degrees about 5 degrees smaller than the throttle opening of 40W50 degrees where function of holding secondary throttle valve 10 is removed, vacuum port 40 opens at an upstream portion of the main throttle valve 6. This vacuum port 40 is communicated via vacuum conduit 41 to vacuum operated chamber 25 of power valve 23 and vacuum chamber 35 of vacuum diaphragm means 30. Therefore, when opening of the main throttle valve 6 becomes 35W45 degrees, atmospheric pressure is acted to vacuum port 40, so that movable piston 24 of power valve 23 is moved downward by the function of compression spring 26 and fuel port 27 is opened. At the same time, valve port 38 is closed to stop supply of secondary air.
