Abstract

PURPOSE: To discharge residual charge in a smoothing capacitor by giving other signals to at least a pair of controllable electric valves in series to conduct them after blocking all control pulses in an inverter.
CONSTITUTION: A base-signal distributor 18 is connected to power-supply lines 10 and 14 through a voltage-frequency converter 12 and a NOT circuit 16. From the output the distributor 18, base signals for inverter transistors T1∼T6 are obtained. However, the base signals for the transistors T1 and T6 are fed through OR circuits 26 and 40. When the signals are applied to the OR circuits 26 and 40 from the base- signal distributor 18 after the inverter has been gate-locked, the transistor T1 and T6 are conducted, and the discharge circuit for an input smoothing capacitor CF is formed by way of a load M. Therefore, the residual charge can be perfectly discharged without a discharge resistor RF or a relay Ry.
