Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance abrasion resistance and to render toner particles difficult to attach and to deposit, by coating iron particles with lithium silicate.
CONSTITUTION: An aqueous solution is prepared containing lithium silicate in the form of nSiO2.Li2O (n is 3.5 to 7.5), preferably in an amount of 3 to 6% by weight. This aqueous solution is sprayed over iron particles of mean particle diameter 325 to 80 mesh fluidized with hot air, preferably at a temperature of 5 to 85°C, and then, the sprayed particles are heated for drying in an electric furnace under a nitrogen atmosphere at about 700°C. An attachment amount of lithium silicate is preferably 0.5 to 2.0% by weight based on the iron particles.
