Abstract

PURPOSE: To manufacture the title sheet with a moderately small product of strength and elongation by hot rolling a slab of a specified C content followed by cold rolling, annealing and cold rolling under specified conditions.
CONSTITUTION: A slab contg. C 0.02W0.13wt% is hot rolled at a usual temp., coiled at a high temp. of 640°C or above, cold rolled at a usual reduction ratio, and box-annealed at 580W730°C. The hot rolled sheet may be coiled at a usual temp. of 550W640°C, cold rolled at a usual reduction ratio, box-annealed at a high temp. of 680W730°C to coarsen carbide, and cold rolled at a reduction ratio of 5W40%. Thus, a steel sheet for an easy-opening can with superior openability can be manufactured. The sheet contains C 0.02W0.13wt% and has an average carbide diameter of 2.0W8.0μ, a strength of 35.0W55.0kg/mm2 and an elongation of 1.0W 21.0%.
