Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide an electromagnetic flow meter, which has a preset stable magnetic field while eliminating both the temperature change of a magnet unit and the demagnetization due to the heat cycle of a permanent magnet.
CONSTITUTION: The electromotive force, which is generated by the flow of a fluid 11 of the electroconductive substance moving in a piping 12, is detected by an electrode 17. A permanent magnet 14 for establishing a magnetic field is mounted on the outer side of a temperature holding material 13 in the form to interpose the piping 12 inbetween, the electrode 17 is attached in a pair to each of the upper and lower sides of the piping 12. A heater 15 is attached along the magnet 14 to the outer side of the magnet 14 such that the magnet 14 can be heated as a whole. A thermocouple 18 is mounted at such a position as can measure the temperature of the magnet 14 and control the temperature of the heater 15. A temperature adjustor 16 is supplied with the signals from the thermocouple 18 thereby to control the output voltage of the heater 15. Thus, it is possible to generate the stable flow signals at all times without making it necessary to measure the density of a magnetic flux.
