PURPOSE: An antidepressive drug having the same action as Imipramine, comprising a specific amidinohydrazone derivative and its salt.
CONSTITUTION: An antidepressive comprising an amidino hydrazone derivative of the formula [R is phenyl or 2-(p-alkoxyphenyl)-1-methyl-ethylene] or its nontoxic salt. The compound is well known as an antiviral agent, and the antidepressive activity is determined by the reserpine blepharoptosis antagonism tests in mice. The effective dose is preferably 1W25mg/kg.
