Abstract
PURPOSE: To remove almost completely, as well as phosphoric acid responsible for the occurrence of red tide, such harmful substances as COD, heavy matals (mainly iron), SS, etc., present in chemical cleaning waste waters including hydrochloric acid washing water for the removal of scale and a rust-proofing liquid of phosphoric acid to within the effluent standard values.
CONSTITUTION: A calciun compound, e.g., calcium hydroxide, calcium chloride, etc., and an alkali compoond, e.g., sodium hydroxide, etc., are jointly added to a chemical cleaning waste water to precipitate phosphates and heavy metals such as iron, copper, etc., in the forms of calcium phosphate and heavy metal hydroxides, and then air is blown into the waste water to oxidize reductive ferrous hydroxide to ferric hydroxide. Furthermore, a perfulfate, e.g., ammonium perfulfate, sodium perfulfate, or potassium persulfate, is added to the waste water in an amount more than equivalent of COD present in the waste water to oxidize and decompose the COD components. Thus, harmful substances can be removed to within the effluent standard values as shown in the table, which are extracted from examples in each place.
