Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain sypsum by mixing a calcium sulfite-base slurry with part of the slurry after oxidation after which the mixt. is pH-adjusted and oxidized to reduce the amt. of sulfuric acid used as well as to prevent scale attachment of a conventional method.
CONSTITUTION: Calcium sulfite-base slurry 1 discharged in desulfurization of exhaust gas enters pH adjusting vessel 2 through line 10. On the other hand, part of the slurry after oxidation is drawn out of oxidation tower 4 through line 5, supplied with sulfuric acid from line 6, and introduced into vessel 2. The mixed slurry adjusted to pH≤5 in vessel 2 enters tower 4 through line 3. In tower 4 the calcium sulfite is oxidized to gypsum with compressed air 13, and the gypsum-contg. slurry is drawn out through line 8 and passed through centrifugal separator 10 to obtain gypsum 12. By this method scale formation due to local pH lowering is prevented unlike a conventional method, and local heating, decomposition of calcium sulfite into SO2, etc. are also prevented. In addn., consumption of sulfuric acid can be reduced.
