Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a magnetic head adapted to high density recording tapes, its core material uses an alloy consisting of Ni, a specific amount of one or more of Cr, W, Mo, etc. and the remaining Fe, and having saturation magnetic flux density and electric resistance with a specified value or greater.
CONSTITUTION: A core material uses an alloy consisting of 35W70% of Ni, one or more of Cr, W, Mo, Ta, Nb, V, Al, Si, Mn, Ge, Co, Cu and Ti in amount of 20% or less in total, and the remaining Fe, and having saturation magnetic flux density with 7500G or higher, and electric resistance with 50μΩ-cm or larger. An ingot containing the above components by being melted is cold- and heat-processed to form into a sheet material of 0.1mm in thickness, which undergoes heat treatment and processing to be made into a core material. A plurality of such core sheet are layered to form magnetic heads. In this manner, the process provides a magnetic alloy having a high permeability and high saturation magnetic flux density, which is capable of providing magnetic head adapted to high density magnetic recording tapes.
