Abstract

PURPOSE: To make image density constant by controlling the applied voltage to a transfer bias applying device according to the number of already copied sheets at the time of performing copying of plural sheets from one sheet of the original.
CONSTITUTION: It is detected that copying of the first sheet has ended at the time of obtaining the second sheet of copy and this detection signal as well as the detection signal to the effect that it is copying of the second sheet are inputted through an input unit 2 to a central processing unit 4. The central processing unit 4 calculates the transfer bias voltage V2 in the next copying by the calculation formula shown by formula I. The results of this calculation are applied to the power source in a transfer bias voltage applying device 6 by way of an output unit 5 to change over the internal resistance thereof, whereby the applied voltage to the transfer roll is changed and the transfer of the second sheet is thus accomplished. In this way, image density may be made constant.
