Abstract
PURPOSE: To execute the denitrification treatment, preventing the retainment in the bed of the gaseous product of the denitrification reaction of the waste water and the mutual coagulation of sludge particles, by moving many wire type members being partitioned in the vertical direction, within the fixed bed consisting of fine particles of specified particle size, being adhered by the microorganisms.
CONSTITUTION: The waste water 1, including (nitrous) nitric type nitrogen, is introduced from the bottom of the reaction tank 9, and is passed through the fixed bed, detaining the carrier particles of particle size under 300μ(10W50μ is suitable), being adhered by the microorganisms, on the distribution plate 2, and is denitrified. The rotor, consisting of wires 4 tensioned between the retainers 10, 10', is installed within the reaction tank 9, and the center shaft 11 of the rotor is driven by the motor 12. Since this rotor softly stirs interior of the fixed bed 3, the degassing of the gas produced from the denitrification reaction is promoted and the coagulation of particles is prevented. The treated water, passed through the fixed bed 3, is discharged from the discharge port 5, and is introduced into the settling tank 6. The sludge particles settled in the settling tank 6 is returned to the reaction tank 9 by the pump 8.
